The Modern at MoMA is two restaurants: the formal dining room with two Michelin stars and a tasting menu, and the bar room with a Michelin star and an à la carte menu. Both are run by Union Square Hospitality Group, both face the museum's sculpture garden.
Resy lists both. The dining room is the harder seat, especially for groups under four; the bar room is faster but the prime tables (banquettes overlooking the garden) book first. The garden patio in season is the easiest door.

Why is The Modern so hard to book?
The Modern is one of the most in-demand tables in Midtown. Prime-time seats are claimed within seconds of release, and many never reach the public at all, so refreshing on your own rarely works.
When do The Modern reservations open up?
The Modern releases tables on a set schedule, and seats also reappear when other guests cancel. We watch both around the clock and move the instant one opens, so you never have to refresh at midnight.
